The Red Marble Jar & Box Set
Two carved marble objects from the same stone: a globular ginger jar with a cylindrical stopper lid and a rectangular lidded box with a flat lift-off top. The material is a rich red-veined marble — cream and rust inclusions, polished to a medium sheen — consistent with Rosso Levanto or a similar Mediterranean red marble, likely Italian or Turkish in origin.
The veining carries across both pieces with the kind of consistency that suggests they were cut from a single block or matched slab. This is the value in the pair — they belong to each other in a way that cannot be replicated.
Italian carved marble giftware of this type was produced for the export market through the 1960s–80s, when natural stone objects were a fixture of the considered interior. These read older than they look.
Sold as a pair.
