The Silver Wire & Canister Set

A quietly arresting grouping of three silver-toned metal objects — two embossed cylindrical canisters bearing Chinese export motifs and one oval silver-plate woven wire basket with an arched handle. Each piece holds its own; together they read as a considered still life.

The canisters carry raised decoration in the Chinese export tradition — a meander border at the collar, relief florals and figurative motifs along the body, tight-fitting lids. The basket is finer in hand than it photographs: a close-woven base giving way to open lattice sides, a coiled wire rim, and a tall arching handle with a wrapped wire joint at the crown. Likely English, late Victorian to Edwardian in form.
